The art gallery tea rooms.
How we sheltered in you,
afternoon after lazy afternoon,
putting the world to rights,
smoking roll ups into the night.
I put a legalize cannabliss poster up,
by a monumental pre-Raphaelite dream,
fed the cats with cream.
Most are gone now,
those first world war soldiers,
having a woodbine,
with their new love.
Now middle aged women,
bring their grandchildren,
as they had been bright,
in the nineteen sixties.
The girl cleans the table,
that bar at the Folies-Bergere by Eduord Manet;
time to get the twirly bus home,
full of culture
and fine vegetable soup.
