drifting as an old pram on the cut,
the empty shops,
shoe box flats,
once proud in their free market.

Students pleased with their image,
of a hundred years in the family album,
grandmother worries about the debt,
as roll ups from the thirties,
gather in doorways.

Hamsters run faster,
round their wheel,
as someone waits for the 65 bus,
back to Stockland Green.
