Alms for the insane.

Those with disability are parked at the arts centre,
the sun shines on us all,
there will be no exhibits by Mr Schizophrenia or Ms Autism,
today it's fish fingers and chips,
at the private couldn't care less home.

We escaped from the long stay asylum,
those washed to rags ward clothes,
the smug indifferent shrinks,
with there ward rounds,
the nasty party thinking of the final solution,
medication time,
it's all a crime.

I once met an old lady,
who'd escaped from her captors,
I let her on the bus,
it took her for one last time,
round the city she loved so well.

Her jailors came running up,
out of breath,
I kept them at bay,
knowing the value of wisdom;
the ducks got bread and water.
